There are many different practices in Reiki. There are two main types of practice. One is the whole-body treatment and another one is the localised treatment. When you are receiving a whole-body treatment, you have to lie down on the massage table and relax. Usually, wearing comfortable clothing can help you to relax while you are receiving the treatment. It is to allow the energy to flow in the right way to deliver a better healing process.

Then the Reiki Master will place their hand at various positions, and there is no touch involved. Usually, Reiki Master will place the hand a few centimetres away from the recipient’s body. Then the hands are held at a certain position for about three to five minutes to allow the energy to flow. There are more than 10 positions involved in Reiki. Sometimes, the Reiki Master will follow their intuition to determine the position that is needed for the treatment.

Another treatment is localised treatment, when the position is fixed to one place. Usually injuries will be treated this way for about 20 minutes. There are claims that the recipient will feel the warmth of the Reiki Master’s hand. The recipient will also feel the difference after the treatment.
